Weekly Update 10/26 - 10/30/26

Good Evening Falcon Families!

I want to start by apologizing to the FUSION Dance Seniors, who I neglected to include in my list of senior recognitions last week. I am sorry, it was an accidental oversight, and won't happen again.

This week is Red Ribbon Week, so make sure you read on to find out all the things going on here at East River as we encourage all our Falcons to say "No" to drugs!

Red Ribbon Week
Monday - Runner vs Runway - Run away from drugs!
Tuesday - Come see SGA at Lunch for games and prizes!
Wednesday - Jersey Day - Team up against drugs!
Thursday - Come see SGA at Lunch for games and prizes!
Friday - Costume Day - Dress Up Against Drugs! (Must follow OCPS dress code, no masks, no weapons, even toy weapons)

Falcon In Need of Host Family

From time-to-time, East River hosts an exchange student from another county. This gives highly successful students from around the world to experience the United States and public schooling here. This year, we have one such exchange student who has been with us since the year started, but now is in need of some assistance.

Her original host home did not work out, and she does not want to have to leave. In order to stay, we need a family that is willing to host her. If you are interested, please contact Mr. Shreffler at Bradley.Shreffler@ocps.net. Thank you!

Final Thoughts

As we wrap up October this week, I want to make sure I don't miss the opportunity to celebrate our fantastic principal, Mrs. Becky Watson. October is Principals' Month, and we couldn't ask for a better principal than we have.

When I was told I would be moved to East River before the previous school year, everyone I mentioned it to would say, "Oh, wow! Becky is the best! I worked with her..." and go on to tell me a story. It happened so often before I officially moved over that I started to worry, because no one could be as amazing a leader as people were making her out to be. But, as I have said many times since then, Becky is the most respected leader in Orange County, and she lives up to the hype.

She will also truly hate that I included this in the newsletter, so possibly for the last time from my hand:

As always, I hope everyone has a GRRREAT Falcon Week!
