Good afternoon Falcon Families!

Good afternoon Falcon families! I hope you had a wonderful and restful break. Let's keep the attitude of gratitude all year long. Thanks to your generosity, East River was able to provide 48 families with a Thanksgiving basket and gift card! This would not have been possible without all of us working together to serve and bless our own community. Thank you!
With the holidays approaching, I want to take a minute to review excused versus unexcused absences from school. Please see below.
Examples of excused absences:
  • Illness or injury (up to five parent notes per year)
  • Medical or dental appointments
  • Death in the family
  • Religious observances
Examples of non-excused absences:
  • A "skip" day
  • Family vacation
  • Leaving early for a trip
  • Not giving a reason for the absence
  • Oversleeping the alarm
  • Behind in work

While some of the unexcused absences are family choices, they are not excused, specifically when beyond the five parent notes accepted yearly. Please follow this link to the OCPS Attendance Handbook or email our Attendance Clerk for more information- Nadya.hance@ocps.net or https://www.ocps.net/166252_2

If you would like to know more about the types of questions and how to access test prep resources, please use the link below:
https://www.officialasvab.com/
The exam will take place Monday, December 15 at 7:20 am. Deadline to register is December 10, 2025.

ATTENTION!

Student IDs are required to be displayed while on campus. Please clip your student id to your backpack at all times. If you lost your ID please go to the media center before or after school to get a new one. Replacement IDs are $5. We have had many students now in compliance with this important safety matter. We want to be sure that our students are safe on campus!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Continued reminders for parents and students about our parking lot:

  • If you need to pick up your student between 7:30 am-2:20 pm, you must park and walk in the front office. Please do not park in the fire lane.
  • Parking near the front office is marked for mobility, reserved- for parents of Little Falcons and pick-up outside of the regular hours. Please park there when coming inside the front office.
  • Please do not line up for afternoon dismissal prior to 1:45 pm. It causes traffic congestion, and we already have enough of that.
  • I recommend dropping your student off early, courtyard doors open at 6:45 to avoid morning traffic.
  • I recommend coming about 2:30 pm if you are picking up in the afternoon if you want to avoid the rush of traffic and buses leaving the property.
  • There is construction around our guard shack as we seek to continually improve our traffic pattern. Please use caution when driving near.
Thank you for helping us keep our students and faculty safe by adhering to speed limits of 10 mph and following all traffic cones, barricades, and signs in the parking lot.
