Weekly Update

Good afternoon Falcon Families!

Good afternoon Falcon Families! Another great week is complete at East River. This past week and continuing forward, we are putting an increased emphasis on being on time to class. Students have 5 minutes in between classes to transition to their next class. Five minutes is enough time to transition from anywhere on campus, as I have walked the entire campus myself many times. Students are encouraged to socialize while walking to class. Music signals the final minute before the tardy bell rings, so students know to start walking faster if needed to make it on time. Tardy sweeps will be conducted daily and students will be given lunch detention or and/or alternative class depending on the number of previous tardies. Students have received multiple warnings and daily reminders. Please remind your student as well. Thank you for your support. Students in class are students that are learning!

ATTENTION!

Student IDs are required to be displayed while on campus. Please clip your student id to your backpack at all times. If you lost your ID please go to the media center before or after school to get a new one. Replacement IDs are $5. We have had many students now in compliance with this important safety matter. We want to be sure that our students are safe on campus!

Thanksgiving Food Drive and Baskets

This year we are coordinating the Thanksgiving Food Drive a little differently. We are encouraging families in need to sign up using the Google form attached: https://forms.gle/W3ChfZWm52wVW5G37

This Google form will close on November 9th to ensure that we have enough time to gather the nonperishables for each basket. The students on campus and organizations will be working together to donate nonperishables for the drive.

If you are interested in donating nonperishable items or gift cards for families in need, please reach out to Ms. Lara for more information (Deziree.Lara@ocps.net).

All information that is collected will remain confidential. If you know a student or faculty member in need this holiday season, please encourage them to fill out the form.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION, DATES, AND DEADLINES

Continued reminders for parents and students about our parking lot:

  • If you need to pick up your student between 7:30 am-2:20 pm, you must park and walk in the front office. Please do not park in the fire lane.
  • Parking near the front office is marked for mobility, reserved- for parents of Little Falcons and pick-up outside of the regular hours. Please park there when coming inside the front office.
  • Please do not line up for afternoon dismissal prior to 1:45 pm. It causes traffic congestion, and we already have enough of that.
  • I recommend dropping your student off early, courtyard doors open at 6:45 to avoid morning traffic.
  • I recommend coming about 2:30 pm if you are picking up in the afternoon if you want to avoid the rush of traffic and buses leaving the property.
Thank you for helping us keep our students and faculty safe by adhering to speed limits of 10 mph and following all traffic cones, barricades, and signs in the parking lot.
