Weekly Update

With Principal Becky Watson

February 16, 2026

Good morning Falcon Families!

I hope this newsletter finds your family enjoying the three-day weekend. There is no school on Monday, February 16 as we observe President’s Day. We are moving swiftly toward the end of the third nine weeks already, and the time has never been more urgent for students to come to school daily and give 100% effort toward excellence while they are here. Please help your student remain dedicated and insist that homework, incomplete classwork, and studying is completed daily. Every student should read daily as well for about 20 minutes to increase vocabulary and to remain a good reader.

As we continue through the school year, we want to remind you that consistent attendance is essential to your student’s academic success. Regular attendance helps students stay on track with lessons, participate in class discussions, complete assignments on time, and build strong connections with their teachers and peers. Missing even a few days can make it challenging to keep up with coursework and important announcements. Please help your student arrive on time each day and schedule appointments outside of school hours whenever possible. If your child must be absent, be sure to notify the school promptly and provide any required documentation. Thank you for your partnership in supporting your student’s success and maintaining a strong commitment to attendance.

Black History Month 2026

Please join us as we honor the 100th year of celebrating Black History. We will have spirit days, daily inspiring facts, and activities throughout the month. Thank you to our Black Student Union and KICS for planning our celebrations!
Tuesday and Thursday of this week will be spirit days!

Free Physicals!

Flyer for Teen Xpress offering free physicals for ages 11-18, with services listed in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Haitian Creole.

ATTENTION!

Student IDs are required to be displayed while on campus. Please clip your student id to your backpack at all times. If you lost your ID please go to the media center before or after school to get a new one. Replacement IDs are $5. We have had many students now in compliance with this important safety matter. We want to be sure that our students are safe on campus!

Please review safety reminders!

Please DO NOT drop students off in the staff parking lot or pull into the mobility spaces to drop students off. There are several suggestions below for avoiding the back-up in the mornings. The mobility spaces are reserved for our students with mobility needs and the reserved spaces are for our Little Falcons parents. Please take the time to safely drop off your student in the drop off lane.

Please be patient and cautious when merging down to one lane. There will continue to be one lane right in front of the school so that students are not walking through traffic when getting dropped off.

Continued reminders for parents and students about our parking lot:

  • If you need to pick up your student between 7:30 am-2:20 pm, you must park and walk in the front office. Please do not park in the fire lane.
  • Parking near the front office is marked for mobility, reserved- for parents of Little Falcons and pick-up outside of the regular hours. Please park there when coming inside the front office.
  • Please do not line up for afternoon dismissal prior to 1:45 pm. It causes traffic congestion, and we already have enough of that.
  • I recommend dropping your student off early, courtyard doors open at 6:45 to avoid morning traffic.
  • I recommend coming about 2:30 pm if you are picking up in the afternoon if you want to avoid the rush of traffic and buses leaving the property.

Thank you for helping us keep our students and faculty safe by adhering to speed limits of 10 mph and following all traffic cones, barricades, and signs in the parking lot.
