With Principal Becky Watson

November 16, 2025

Good afternoon Falcon Families!

Good afternoon Falcon families! Can you believe we are halfway through the second quarter already? This school year is truly flying by. As we head into the week before Thanksgiving break, I am reminded of all I have to be thankful for: a beautiful school, committed students, supportive parents, and dedicated faculty and staff. Serving at East River High School has truly been the highlight of my career and I am grateful to be here every day. Please take time to count your blessings with your family near and far as we approach Thanksgiving day.

East River is closed during the week of November 24-28. There will not be anyone in the front office, as there will be continued work on the air conditioning at our site. We wish your and your families a pleasant and restful week!

Testing December 2

On Tuesday, December 2, 9th and 10th graders will take the FAST PM 2 test measuring progress for the second quarter in reading.
11th and 12th graders who are still in need of a reading concordant score for graduation will take the FAST Reading retake.
There will be a modified schedule for all. Please make note especially for those that have late arrival and early release.

BEST Algebra 1 and Geometry retakes- December 4

Any student who has not taken the Algebra 1 and/or Geometry BEST test, and those 11th and 12th graders needing a math concordant score for graduation, will be testing on this day. Please check your email for details and testing locations when we return from Thanksgiving break. Use Khan Academy to practice!

ATTENTION!

Student IDs are required to be displayed while on campus. Please clip your student id to your backpack at all times. If you lost your ID please go to the media center before or after school to get a new one. Replacement IDs are $5. We have had many students now in compliance with this important safety matter. We want to be sure that our students are safe on campus!

Progress Reports- November 20

Second quarter Progress Reports are available for view in Skyward beginning this Thursday, November 20. Please email me if you would like a printed copy: rebecca.watson@ocps.net.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Continued reminders for parents and students about our parking lot:

  • If you need to pick up your student between 7:30 am-2:20 pm, you must park and walk in the front office. Please do not park in the fire lane.
  • Parking near the front office is marked for mobility, reserved- for parents of Little Falcons and pick-up outside of the regular hours. Please park there when coming inside the front office.
  • Please do not line up for afternoon dismissal prior to 1:45 pm. It causes traffic congestion, and we already have enough of that.
  • I recommend dropping your student off early, courtyard doors open at 6:45 to avoid morning traffic.
  • I recommend coming about 2:30 pm if you are picking up in the afternoon if you want to avoid the rush of traffic and buses leaving the property.
  • There is construction around our guard shack as we seek to continually improve our traffic pattern. Please use caution when driving near.
Thank you for helping us keep our students and faculty safe by adhering to speed limits of 10 mph and following all traffic cones, barricades, and signs in the parking lot.
