School Advisory Council

School Advisory Council at East River HS

The purpose of the School Advisory Council (SAC) is to assist in the preparation, implementation, and evaluation of the school improvement plan. Each SAC is composed of the principal and an appropriately balanced number of teachers, education support employees, students, parents, and other business and community citizens who are representative of the ethnic, racial, and economic community served by the school.

In order to meet Five Star School requirements, SAC should meet a minimum of eight times per year and have membership attendance averages of at least 80 percent. Meetings include a discussion of the progress made towards school goals outlined in the school improvement plan and the connection to the district’s Strategic Plan, including the vision, mission, and goals.

As always, SAC meetings are open to all. Membership is not a requirement to attend meetings and participate in the discussions.

We meet in the Media Center on the 3rd Wednesday of the month.
